About

Over the last four years with Little Radio, I have watched closely as the internet has forced major changes in an industry that historically defies change. From a pirate radio antennae on a rooftop in Echo Park, to a worldwide audience that stretches to almost every continent, Little Radio is well known as a company that embraces the latest technology. The first studio was located next to the Club Fais Do Do, built out into the front a run down single screen movie theatre in Los Angeles' Adams District. My original plan was to broadcast live shows onto our website and on the FM dial from Fais do do, eventually opening a club with a studio located inside it. That studio would be home to the internet radio station as well as recording studio, surrounded by a large warehouse style venue. There, we would combine the technology of streaming media with the social experience of a club. The idea was there, the right time and place, were not.

A year later, Little Radio would settle into its own area of downtown in, a 5,000 sq ft warehouse, and begin building a place for both music fans and musicians. The plan was to create a Factory-like environment for creativity, build a strong following, then open as a full time venue. The next year and a half Little Radio would host live concerts, always to capacity. Many of the best new and immortalized bands like Sonic Youth, Peaches, Spoon, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Autolux, The Brian Jonestown Massacre and a long, solid list of others graced the stage. Although Little Radio was not a full time space, it was voted Best Music Venue in Los Angeles in the Alternative Press Readers Poll, One of the 101 Best Parties in America by SPIN magazine, awarded Best Rock and Roll Venue by Downtown News, along with many other nominations.

Word was out that Little Radio was one of the best places in Los Angeles to see live music. Doing very few shows each month, most announced only days before or not at all, the elusive nightspot had hit a nerve in the live music scene surrounding one of Americas biggest music towns. At the end of 2007, the momentum had carried things to a critical mass where it was finally time to take the venue to the next level.

Moving forward, we announce a new partnership with Transmission Entertainment, with new online capabilities and expansion in their venue presence. With today’s announcement, both companies expands their position as a new and different booking, events, media, content, and talent management organization. This step marks another in the series of contributions to building what will be the ‘new music industry’ through creative technology and a unique ‘network of independents’.

Little Radio is a progressive Los Angeles based online radio station and independent music network that has been focusing its efforts on live events, online content management, podcasts, downloads, and artist support for the past 4 years. Transmission Entertainment embarked on a creative partnership with Little Radio upon realizing the immediate synergies of the two organizations. With its vast library of online content and existing social network, Little Radio found a like-minded partner in Transmission as an organization attempting to align its local brick-and-mortar assets (Club de Ville, Mohawk, Red 7, Lambert's) with the dramatic shifts in today’s touring and recording industry. The two organizations share a common vision for riding the currents of this ‘sea change’ in the music industry and their shared commitment to supporting independent, emerging artists in their respective regions sealed the deal.
